Training 2002 - 2004

Shadow Councillors and Delegates go through a training programme during their term of office. The training is designed to help and support Shadow Councillors and Delegates with their work in FSYC.

The training also provides young people with new skills which can be included in their Record of Achievement.

The present group of Shadow Councillors and Delegates have completed the following training:

Committee Skills: FSYC members were given training on team work, how to chair a meeting, take minutes and debate issues in Council meetings.

Campaigning and Lobbying: Save the Children staff provided this training on how to get their voices heard, how to design a campaign and how to lobby with individuals and organizations for things young people want.

Young Citizenship in Action: This training provided by Fermanagh Volunteer Bureau concentrated on 4 areas; Citizenship, Identity, Rights and Responsibilities and Volunteering

Media Training: FSYC members carried out training in relation to the media including; how to write a press release, how to give a media interview and how to lobby the media. This training was funded by Fermanagh Local Strategy Partnership through measure 3.2 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (Peace II).

Presentations and Public Speaking: This training day gave participants the opportunity to learn how to write a presentation and how to deliver it effectively. It was funded by Fermanagh Local Strategy Partnership through measure 3.2 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (Peace II).

Conflict Resolution: This training day looked at conflict scenarios and how they should be dealt with and working and reflecting on the difficulty of developing consensus over difficult issues regarding values. The group also worked at identifying issues that FSYC want to work on and the conflicts surrounding these. It was funded by Fermanagh Local Strategy Partnership through measure 3.2 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (Peace II).

Know Your Rights: A peer education group from youth@clc delivered training on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This was followed by consumer rights by the General Consumer Council. This training day was funded by Fermanagh Local Strategy Partnership through measure 3.2 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (Peace II).
