About Us
Fermanagh
Shadow Youth Council is a group of young people elected to give
their age group a political voice. Candidates stand on youth
issue manifestos in properly organised PR elections organised
by Fermanagh District Council.
Post primary schools and colleges are turned into polling stations,
official ballot papers are used and the final count is held
in the Town Hall.
To assist with growing demand Shadow Councillors can nominate
other young people called "Delegates" to help them with their
work. These are non-elected members with specific interest,
experience or expertise who act as "civil servants".
Non-elected candidates are immediately made Delegates, answerable
to Shadow Councillors. Subsequently, Shadow Councillors, Delegates
and on rare occasions the Project Worker (subject to Shadow
Council approval), nominate future Delegates.
